Ben’s practice focuses on commercial and corporate transactional legal services. Ben’s experience includes negotiating technology transactions, services agreements, commercial agreements, and intellectual property licenses on behalf of businesses ranging from start-up companies to Fortune 500 companies. He also has experience negotiating strategic, M&A and corporate transactions. Ben spent more than a decade as in-house counsel supporting businesses in the following industries: automotive services, advertising technology and services, clean tech, cryptocurrency, financial technology, and digital and broadcast media.

Prior to joining Acceleron, Ben served as Assistant General Counsel to BitPay, Inc., a leader in the blockchain and cryptocurrency payment industry, where he led commercial and strategic transactions, developed product terms, and supported privacy law compliance. Before BitPay, Ben spent ten years as in-house counsel at Cox Enterprises and its family of companies, including Cox Automotive (Autotrader, Kelley Blue Book, vAuto, Manheim, etc.), Cox Media Group (local TV, radio, newspaper, advertising and ad tech) and Cox’s clean tech operations. While with the Cox companies, Ben provided intellectual property counsel, negotiated software, technology, data and services transactions, led and supported M&A transactions, and supported Cox’s new ventures, including serving as the primary attorney for multiple businesses from their inception. This experience included serving as a key team member for the sale of Cox Media Group to a new, standalone entity, and upon becoming part of the new company, helping to ensure the successful transition of Cox Media Group as it fully separated from Cox. Before going in-house, Ben worked as a technology licensing associate for Georgia Tech Research Corporation’s technology transfer office, and as an attorney with Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione (now part of Crowell Moring) where he focused on patent prosecution and litigation.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying the arts, running and skiing (albeit, poorly). He aspires to get back to his hobbies, including homebrewing, roasting coffee and generally tinkering with things.
